Danna the daredevil going in HEAD FIRST!

Enjoying a drink after boating... from here we went back to Bridget's aunt's home and had massages and did our toenails.  Then we went out to the bar in town called The Island and practiced our dancing for the wedding! :)

Lifetime Fitness Triathlon

On July 9th, Jason, Me, and Jason's dad, Richard headed up to Minneapolis so they could participate in the Lifetime Fitness Triathlon.
It rained for a few minutes but was cool for the athletes.

Dick is the one looking at his goggles...
Jason waiting for his turn to head out for the swim...
They swam 9/10 of a mile...

Then they transitioned to their bikes and biked around lakes and over the Mississippi for 25 miles.

Dick headed out to bike-hes the one in the red..
Jason on the bike-almost to transition...
They then ran 6 miles around a lake...

Jason finishing-hes in the black.
He makes funny faces at me when he sees I am taking his picture...it's pretty normal anymore!
The two TRIATHLETES!
This was funny-while I was waiting for the guys to shower up I noticed these Ricp Suaves shooting a music video!  Hahahahhahah!!

AHHH CHOOO!!

I just sneezed for the 5th time today.
It's a new record.

It's not a wimpy little ahh choo either...it's downright loud! It scares the crap out of my two cats!

I'm pretty sure I have sneezed more times in the past 2 weeks than I ever have in my entire life.

And I have NOT a CLUE why.

I'm not sick, I don't feel sick at all, my nose isn't running or anything like that.

It's an oddity. But-alas-sometimes I am just odd! :-)

In other news... HOLY HEATWAVE!

I randomly looked up how hot it has to be for an egg to sizzle outside and cook into scrambled eggs.
According to Bill Nye the science guy-this would work on a hot and steamy day like today!
He suggested putting a little cooking oil down on the surface first-keeps the conduction moving through the eggs...

Our air conditioner at home didn't shut off once.  Jason said it was 87 degrees at 10:30pm.

Right now the temp is 98 degress...that's without the humidity.  It has to be up in the 110 degree range of heat index right now.

A refreshing way to keep cool is to take a yogurt and put it in the freezer for a few hours.

It is delicious and frozen-perfect on a day like today!

I have a lemon one freezing up right now for my afternoon snack.

Wow-this has been one random post!

I still have to blog about the Lifetime Fitness Triathlon that Jason and his dad participated in a few weeks ago!  It's coming people! :)

Alright-stay cool San Diego! :)

4-H & FFA Fair 2011

For fair this year-Andy baked and Apple Pie and it was considered for State Fair!  Jacob made cookies and got a blue ribbon.  They both took crops to the fair and Andy came out with the top overall crop win!

Greta took a bucket bottle calf that she named, Curly!  She did great handling him in the ring!

Andy and Jacob both took pigs and chickens to the fair.  The boys got several awards for Showmanship and overall Market bird with their chickens.  Andy placed first in one of his classes with one of his pigs.

Jacob made this dresser in woodworking class and took it as a project.  He gets to take it to the State Fair!  :)
Their are more pictures that I will be adding in further posts-this is just getting started!!

4th of July, 2011!!

On Sunday, Jason and I headed out to the 1st annual Red, White, & Blues...& BBQ too festival in Charles City!  We got to try some BBQ ribs from 16 some different grill masters.  Some were sweet, others more salty, but all were very good!  Adam and Andy were helping a fellow BBQ'ing friend.  The picture on the bottom right is of two guys that I graduated with!  Go Pat and Brendan!
On the 4th, Jason, Danna, and Justin participated in the Firecracker 5 mile race!  Bridget and I ran the water station, while Adam manned the traffic control.

Jason got 2nd in his age group and was very happy with his run!  Danna was the overall female first place finisher in the 5 mile run!
Frank-the cat-entertained us at the Herrick house on the 4th!
Titus celebrated his birthday a day early on Monday and it was great to see him and Winny and Cici!

We hope you had a safe and fantastic 4th!

Saturday in the Park & 4th of July

This weekend Jason and I headed to Sioux City with some friends to see a few people up on this stage!
Saturday in the Park was the name of this thing we went to...

There was lots of people...this was in the morning...it was probably 5x as many by the time the main acts were on stage.

Here are the two people we went with...Jessi and Todd.  Jason works with Todd...and they are so much alike!  I KNOW that Jason and him were brothers in a different life.

Jason and I enjoying the music...

Here is the first main act-Grace Potter.  She has an amazing voice!

And next was Cee Lo Green....

The main act was Ben Harper...he was amazing!  This was Jessi & Todd's 14th time seeing them!  WOW!  We were probably 20 feet from the stage-it was great!

The flooding in Sioux City was pretty significant...

While on our way home, we stopped at a Casey's in Sac City and noticed this little red shed across from it.  Turns out it was the World's Largest Popcorn Ball!  Yea-it was awesome!

Around the "popcorn ball shed" we found a small "old time" village!  Their was a little church and we got a picture by it.

It was a great weekend....stay tuned for tomorrow's post about the rest of our 4th of July weekend!
